Before you know it, you’ll have mastered the basics of color mixing, water control, brushwork, and sketchbook exercises, and you’ll see what we mean about paint being a truly meditative experience! Join us live (free on Zoom), or purchase access to view the course after the fact. Cannot wait to see you in there!
Join me and other arteests for community and soul-nourishing with my free Zoom watercolor classes. Courses are designed for those who find watercolor daunting, or who just want to get together with friends to make pretty things! Projects are carefully curated by Tenille to build skills and transform frustration and discouragement into success and beauty!
Class is held twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday and Thursdays.
Each course focuses on a different set of skills, but we cover, generally:
Watch for the email ahead of the course to see what supplies you will need each week. See my list of recommended supplies to have on hand here.
I know how it feels to learn to paint, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Even when following the best tutorials, it’s easy to lose your way. My commitment is to the enabling of the arteest in all of my students by providing live classes where you can paint right beside me, and ask questions, showing me your struggles. Can’t make one? Want to watch it again? No worries, you can purchase access to the recording after the fact. I’m here for you, however you need it! I want you to love your watercolor skill building journey as much as I have loved mine, and I’m looking forward to being here with you every step of the way!
Most of our participants prefer to attend class in-person, but for those who are out of our time zone, or who have calendar conflicts that render them unavailable to attend in person, I got you! You don’t have to miss out! Check out my recordings, available for purchase below. Once you purchase the course, you will be able to access them forever and in perpetuity!
We’re headed to the farm! While visiting my in-laws I spent some quality time with their chickens. The beautiful ladies provided a wealth of inspiration for my sketchbook and excellent practice in breaking down a subject into shapes. Plus it made my sketchbook look adorable. Join me for some practice in simplifying a subject and using the ink and wash technique as we play around, get messy and make mistakes. This week is focused more on practice and playing than a finished composition so it’s perfect for sketchbooks.

Using a negative space painting technique (painting something by NOT painting it), these candles give off a beautiful soft glow. One of my favorite projects, this one is best done with a good quality cotton paper. It feels like pure magic to watch it come together one layer at a time.

I really love puns. And milkshakes. And blowing paint around on paper. So this project is squarely in the ‘love it’ category for me. So grab your valentine or galentine and make some delightfully unpredictable paint splatters with me!

I give you the pouncing fox project! When I saw this picture from the National Park Service of a fox hunting for small rodents under the snow it just tickled me so much. The fox uses his extra sharp hearing to locate his prey and pounce through the snow layer and it just looks so delightfully undignified, even though it is really cool.

This week we will be painting a glowing nativity scene, complete with a galaxy background and the Christmas star. So take a steadying breath with me during this hectic season and pause for just a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

With the weather getting ever so slightly warmer, I’m ready for spring haha. I know it’s still a ways away, but luckily with a paintbrush we can jump into any season we want for a while. These sweet flower jars are the perfect thing to put on the fridge while you wait for the real thing.

We have fun at paint classes every week, and you don’t have to believe me ! I don’t just send out happy mail, sometimes I receive it! Check out what our students have to say about our live and recorded zoom classes:
I started taking Tenille's class a long while ago and was so nervous because I had no experience in watercolor. I used to say that I had no artistic ability at all.
However, Tenille's classes are DESIGNED for a range of artists from beginners like me to those with extensive experience. She gives personalized pointers that enhance our artwork and is encouraging all along the way. She clearly has had so much background in watercolor, but her real talent lies in teaching and putting her students at ease. I now have art that I created in her class all over my house and I'm so proud I created it!
If you are even considering her class, I would highly recommend it! It was exactly what my brain and soul were looking for.
Two of my favorite days every month are when I get to paint with Tenille. She’s the one that inspired me to start painting.
I love Tenille, I love her class, I just love letting myself go and enjoying being with her.
I approach painting and art like I approach many things in my life that I care about-- holding my breath and with my eyes closed, in abject terror, haha. No, but really, I walked into Tenille's classes with trepidation and very unsure that I would be able to make anything valuable, but with a desire to give it a shot!
I have been pleasanly surprised, however! I'm on the East Coast, so I enjoy the classes after-the-fact, and have been able to easily keep up with the classes, and have fun doing it!
I've learned new skills, impressed my children, haha, and had a blast doing it! 10/10 would recommend scheduling time with this incredible arteest into your regular routine. You deserve it!
